Birth of Takeda-Ryu Iaido Section in Italy
NOVEMBER 2008
Last 8 and 9 November, Cervignano, city of the North-East of Italy, hosted the first Iaido training course for the opening of the first Iaido Takeda-ryu Maroto-Ha section of YKKF's (Yudansha Kobujitsu Karate Doh Federation) history. Hosted by its chairman, master Giovanni Dimeglio, master Maroteaux led this course attended by Shihan-Dai Claude Chantegrel.
By all accounts, this experience has been most rewarding in many ways. From the purely technical aspect of things, but also from the human point of view. The opportunity to interact with other members of the Budo family to share martial knowledge of our school has not been missed.
On the sidelines of Iaido classes, an introduction to our Aïki-Jujutsu has been provided by master Maroteaux to the few students interested in this martial art.
Not present in this occasion, our best thoughts went naturally to Sensei Ronald Yamanaka, founder of the YKKF, when we made together the final Rei ceremony.
As long as there will have men and women to serve traditional martial arts such as those we've met there, no doubt, beautiful days are ahead.
